Superfolie is the Rittenhouse wine bar from the team behind The Good King Tavern and Le Caveau. The charming and friendly neighborhood spot has 70+ wines from around the globe, French-leaning small plates, and is both sexy enough for a date and laid back enough for a hang with your closest cheese-loving friends.

The focus here is on wine, but food is far from an afterthought. The menu revolves around meats, cheeses, and shareable small plates, like the tangy tuna crudo and buttery steak tartare. Dishes change seasonally, but you’ll always find tartines with an assortment of toppings (like fromage blanc, asparagus, and mint). No matter what you get, it’s presented beautifully and perfect for sharing.

You can order enough to make a meal, but the move is to stop in for an aperitif and appetizer before dinner, or bring friends to try a new bottle (or three). The whole place is designed for long stints of sipping and snacking, from the first-floor window seats that are perfect for people-watching, to the luxurious green velvet booths on the mezzanine. It’s cozy—only 30 or so seats—which is helpful for eavesdropping on someone defending their fedora collection on a date, and/or listening to the servers and somms as they describe the wines by the glass and their hard-to-find bottles.

If wine isn’t your bag, they also have cocktails and a few beers on draft. You’ll want to try the Freezer Martini, made with vodka, dry vermouth, and an herbaceous splash of Cocchi Americano. No matter what you end up drinking, Superfolie is that rare wine bar—chic, comfortable, and a place you won’t want to leave.
